Indoor tracking (SmartPTT 8.6)

Follow

Unlike the previous versions, SmartPTT 8.6 version has some changes in Indoor tracking feature.

First of all, Indoor infrastructure is based on the Kilchherr K-TERM 70 beacons.

Tracked radios must be equipped with original option boards.

SmartPTT 8.6 version allows you to visualize a radio subscriber moving on the building plan as in previous versions starting from 8.4 version.

Note. When using Control Stations (without repeaters), it is highly recommended to take one separate control station for Beacon ID transmission.

Radio subscriber settings

For proper operation of the radios with the built-in option board, enable the Option board feature. You can do it in the CPS codeplug of the subscriber’s radio (particular channel settings).

This setting enables or disables the option board capability on the channel. When disabled the option board itself may still function, but it won’t interact with this channel's radio option board functionality.

This is a channel-wide feature.

Radioserver settings

First of all, make sure that you have the necessary license.

Next, enable the Indoor Tracking feature in the Indoor Tracking tab of Add-on Modules in SmartPTT Radioserver Configurator by selecting Active. Make sure the port and delay settings and list of allowed beacons are correct.

Data Port – UDP port for listening to Beacon ID.

Response Delay – time period during which SmartPTT Radioserver waits to confirm the command receiving from the option board.

Specify list of allowed beacons – you can specify Beacon IDs which data must be processed by SmartPTT Radioserver. If the option is not selected, the radioserver processes data from all the beacons.

Dispatcher setting

To open the Indoor tracking tab in SmartPTT Dispatcher, click Map in the Main menu, and then click Indoor Tracking. There are two options: either Open or New (create a building plan).

2D images could be in a .jpg (or .jpeg, .bmp, .png, .gif, .ico) format. A building plan also could be presented as 3D model in a .dwg or .dxf format.

Note: DWG (DraWinG) is a binary file format used for storing two and three dimensional design data and metadata. It is the native format for several CAD packages including nanoCAD, AutoCAD, IntelliCAD.

In SmartPTT 8.6 you can add floors to the building plan. To add a floor of a building, click the Add button.

To add a floor of a building, click the Add button. To remove a floor of a building, select it from the list and click Delete. To change the floor order inside the building, use the Up and Down buttons.

To add a beacon to the building plan, click the Add beacon button and mark beacon’s location on the building plan in accordance with the real location of the beacon in the room.

Enable the Indoor tracking functionality for the subscriber radio (subscriber radio must have a built-in option board). To enable the feature, open the Properties window of the radio subscriber by right-clicking the selected subscriber.

Click the Location tab and select the following check boxes.

Note: It is not recommended to set update interval less than 30 seconds.

Beacons

Make sure that the beacons are turned on. Open the cover of a beacon and check the red cap locking the contacts. Both contacts must be under the cap.

If the settings are correct, you will see a building plan with the displayed beacons and subscriber radios.
